Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

So the holidays are over and I hope everyone had a fantastic time. I know I did! In the days leading up to Christmas I had to make a few gifts for some lovely people. Here are the results:

Circles

This little number is a notebook that I covered for Emma. It’s a combination of eco felt and beautiful wool felt and wool fabrics. I made it to house her knitting notes for her projects.

These two guys were made for a couple of people at work. On the outside is snuggly knit yarn and inside is a sack of steel cut oats that can be removed and warmed up in the microwave. They’re great for winter and were a big hit!

Is anyone else prone to making the gifts they give?

Happy crafting!

‘Tis the Season for New Yarn!

I know, I know, it’s not Christmas yet! However, for all the crafters and makers out there, it’s time to get down to creating our gifts for the people we love…or at least tolerate.

I’m a huge fan of Etsy and have been for a few years now so I’ve decided to round up some beautiful yarn found on the site. I’ve included simple suggestions of how I would use the yarn. I hope this helps bring some inspiration for the busy knitting and crocheting season upon us all.

But enough of my chit chat, let’s get to the good stuff!

Bloodthirsty from DyeForYarn

This first yarn is from DyeForYarn in Germany. I’ve had my eye on it for quite a while. Their wide range of colours are so rich, and if you pardon the pun,  to “dye” for. This particular yarn is 100% silk, and 100% gorgeous! It would be beautiful as a simple shall to really show off the yarn itself.

Royalty Colour-way from WanderingWool

This beautiful yarn is from WanderingWool in the United States. The deep colours of this yarn are perfect going into the colder months and the yarn would be great for a pair of socks.

Oil Slick from SeeJayneKnitYarns

On to my next yarn pick, from SeeJayneKnitYarns in Canada. I’m a sucker for single ply yarn and this is no exception. Such great colours for fall and winter! This would make a great set of mittens and a hat or cowl!

Botanical Green to Clay Color Bridge Yarn Set from colorshiftyarn

Last but certainly not least we have colourshiftyarn in the United States. Ombre is such a huge trend right now and I think how they have incorporated it into their yarn is fantastic. Using their yarns for entrelac pieces or just a simple scarf would be lovely to get the full scope of colours they offer.

I hope all of you out there fall in love with these yarns as much as I have and give them a try!

Have fun and get creative!
